QX9650 with Asus Maximus Extreme (help- motherboard restored to default)

Thread Starter
Hello from Calgary

I had set a qx9650 Asus Maximus Extreme board (water cooled) to 4.2 reliably - it only took me a few hours, but that was in 2010. Durring the flooding/power outs in Calgary (no water got to computer) I went to turn on my PC and the bios had reset to default. Which is ok - i got a new PC battery for BIOS.

Could some please assist me in trying to get started again? I tried different multipliers , voltages, etc, can seem to get it to work. or a way to start. I can get 3.33 ghz using 333 frequency x10 . (obvious)

Thank you in advance.

I haven't overclocked with LGA775 for a long time. You know the overclocking rules, start slowly incrementing little by little to get gains. It's a tedious process I remember compared to Sandy Bridge. If it's unstable add a little more voltage to the CPU and adjust FSB/Multiplier up and down to try to get more gains.

Looks like the motherboard might be dead. Try testing your components on another system to see if that's the case. You should fill out your PC's system specs in your signature so people know what you're using. What is your power supply?
