Which temperature to monitor

Thread Starter
So I'm overclocking my FX 8350 on an ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 motherboard and am monitoring my temps with cpuid hardware monitor. When I run a stress test with prime95 the which temperature show I be paying attention to, the "cpu" or the "package". I was wondering because when I stress test the two temps and very different from eachother and the "cpu" one seems to read higher than what the actual temperature is (however, Im not 100% sure about that) and the "package" temp seems to be a more reasonable temperature. Heres a pic if you need it (note: these are not my temps under load.)
edit: also when Im not under load the "package" temp is way off and generally shows less than my ambient

Get coretemp or realtemp. These are the two most common and reliable programs to check your cpu core temps. But of the two temps above, the cpu is the one you must ckeck.

Isnt real temp only for intel processors, and I have Core Temp but the temperature it shows is the same as package temp.

I'd be keeping an eye on the CPU temp if I were you, although that does seem odd. Are you using the latest version of HWMonitor? What do your temps look like under load?

I believe RealTemp is designed for Intel processors, but not having ever used it, I can't say for certain.
