EDITED and thoughts organized: Will this computer set up help me max out Minecraft Modded?

Thread Starter
What I'm looking for its to max out a Modded Minecraft. I also need this extra power for running game servers while playing on the same machine and converting and streaming.

For Minecraft I use Sonic Ethers Mod plus x128/ x256 texture packs While rendering far on my 16gb ram @2133mhz 2500k @4.3ghz and gtx 670 2gb @ Core:1228mhz Memory @ 3504mhz wink.gif
Yeah my GTX 670 RMA card I got after my fan died on the old is a overclocking beast. My other card would only do 1137mhz and before hitting 70c which was almost all the time even with fan manually set to 80%. Guess it was a hot card.
But I need more Raw POWER biggrin.gif
16gb of ram maxing out getting java low memory errors when rendering extreme. I think its time to put the old 2500k out to another computer I have out grown its power. It wont handle streaming running a Minecraft server playing a Modded Minecraft all at the same time.
I will build my kids friends a computer out of my old hardware so they can play with us and my friend peter who is in Portland, Oregon.

What I'm looking @ for my dream computer is:
1* EVGA 06G-P4-2790-KR GeForce GTX TITAN ( when the need comes to get more I will)
1kit of G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 64GB @2400mhz
1* GIGABYTE GA-X79-UP4
1* Intel Core i7-3930K (Will swap this out i7 3930k for the new i7 4930k)
I know this CPU has no cooler. Will grab one when I get the computer.
This computer is my anniversary gift

I know Minecraft is single threaded plus is more CPU intensive than GPU. But running SEUS is GPU intensive.
I know that the 4770k is the best single threaded CPU but not enough power for my needs.
I know running any Texture Packs because there zipped/compressed it adds to the CPU and RAM usage.
Running Shaders adds a TON of stress to the GPU as its constantly doing real time lighting, shadows, world reflections on water calculations.
Higher Render Distance adds more stress to the system.

I plan on running as close to extreme render distance as I can while maintaining 30fps while running SEUS mod plus any x128 x256 x512 x1024 texture packs.

Beyond Minecraft I know this new computer set up is a "Force To Be Reckoned" with almost anything you throw at it.

I've looked for benchmarks for the titan with Minecraft and not much out there.

Below are pics of my HEXXIT running different configs.
Computer setup used during testing.
i5 2500k @ 4.3ghz
16gbs of RAM @2133mhz 4gb*4
Crucial M4 128gb SSD
GTX 670 Kelper Boost enabled to for max speed/max fps @1228mhz core & 3504 memory.

FAR Render Distance with shaders with DEFAULT texture pack when world is fully loaded getting 60 fps

FAR Render Distance with shaders with x256 texture pack: 1.5.2 Faerielight 256x256v2a when world is fully loaded getting 50 fps
FAR 240 Render Distance no shaders DEFAULT textures! (Click to show)
I Get 6-8 fps when its fully load. I use around 50% of CPU & 88%of RAM. I think it would lag like hell if I was moving around doing stuff.

This is to show mostly my fps in game when I'm loading stuff before I crash.

Crappy out of memory error. I can't wait for 64gb of ram I won't ever see this message for awhile.

I'm using 51% of my CPU 85% of my 16gb of ram 3gb is already allocated to HEXXIT/minecraft and than I crash.

SEUS v10 ULTRA No Motion Blur with Cloud Shadow:TRUE. New Block Breaking:TRUE

Running DEFAULT textures @25fps when it fully loaded when moving 18-25fps using 50% of CPU & 34% of RAM

Running 1.5 Faerielight 128x128 v1a Bump texture pack @25fps when fully load when moving 18-25fps. I'm using about 50% of CPU & 35% of RAM

Running the same x256 texture pack getting 4fps when moving around or not. Using 61% CPU & 66% of RAM
I applied the "no multi-threaded optimization" tweak and it works great I will post more later what this does to my CPU & RAM usage along side my fps.

If I wanted to add more stress to my future RIG I'll just down-sample/ use custom resolution @ 3840x2160 @60hz which my 50inch Plasma TV has no problem doing.

I hope this brings some light to way I'm asking if a i7 3930k (* now i7 4930k) 64gb of ram and a TITAN is "ENOUGH" for the job? Cause I'm planning on using bigger Texture packs than x256

wow I'm shocked nobody has commented yet on this i was not joking. Minecraft is sadly the only game where I find flaws in my current rig when its modded

We're quite a large community here at OCN, sometimes you will receive instant responses, other times you won't however.
Firstly, i don't play minecraft, but from what i've seen i'm guessing that game would show no issues even on a dated Pentium 4 machine with a DirectX 8 card.

Old? As for your rig, i'd still classify it as higher midrange specs, plus 16GB of 2133mhz RAM and an OC'd GTX670 couldn't possibly be something you could complain about either.
The 2500k is only 2 generations old, and imo, still holds up terrific especially when overclocked. You can't call it old while the LGA1155 platform is still widely available and probably not officially discontinued yet either.
Mine's @ 4.3Ghz too, and takes any game on high-max with 60fps+.

Look up the system requirements for Minecraft. Im not sure if the Titan will even break a sweat running it, no matter what mods you throw at it.

Minecraft is a Java based game. As with everything Java, you need massive CPU overhead.

you would be incorrect about a P4 running modded minecraft but, on a side note my sig rig runs FTB no problem (55+ fps). if yours cant then i would look at the game and not the hardware.

I know there alot of people on here. but most would look at the words "modded Minecraft" and think oh big texture pack or Feed The Beast, techic or what ever. Its not true i plan to run all these with SEUS mod which add much more stress to the CPU plus GPU & RAM. adding the fact now I'm using a "NON Default" texture pack which is zipped adds more to the CPU/ RAM. Now rendering it "FAR-EXTREME" stresses all components more.

plus My CPU is too Voltage crazy to go higher than 4.5 is not all stable there sometimes. my 670 is a 2gb not 4gb but didn't have the money for the 4gb. I took my time unlocked this cards voltage and fan profile and pushed it to its limit and found myself stable in crysis 3 maxed @ Core:1228mhz Memory @ 3504mhz and at 80% never climbs above 50c

I can run minecraft fine on this rig without using SEUS mod.

Using SONIC ETHER'S Unbelievable Shaders Mod Adds real time lighting and reflections of the world, shadows there much more to this mod. Plus I use big texture packs. so I push my rig to it limits.

I firmly believe. your problems lie in the game itself. IIRC there is a mod to make Java allocate more RAM to the game itself, which is the main reason the game will lag. I haven't played it in a while but I do remember that the performance problems I had were software issues, not hardware.

Yes I do know this and already given Minecraft 4gbs to it self. Java is using the rest of my Ram till the game hangs and than I get the "Out Of Memory" error.
trust me I have done all I can to go Extreme render distance.

I'm upgrading my rig for other things than Mincecraft. Just hoping a the new setup is man enough for this job.

To clarify Minecraft is mostly Single threaded but with Optifine you can force it do Multi-Core(which uses another core). If you don't set Multi-threaded optimization to off you get flashing Chunks as your moving. Minecraft does not support SLI so a TITAN for my is best for Gaming, Converting, among other things. Using MInecraft mods or Texture packs take up some Ram because of the loading and unzipping it. Also setting your render distance to higher than Far take more RAM as you loading more stuff.
