SSDs are getting cheaper and mechanical drives are getting bigger. 3 3.5" bays is enough for 12TB, lol, I'd say that's plenty for a user that's buying a cheap case.
It does indeed depend on what each person does with the case, but as you may be able to tell, more large drive bays gives you more options to fit brackets for smaller devices; you aren't JUST restricted to one size of device. Hence why retaining 3.5" HDD bays is also a good idea, you can keep using your older drives until you can get SSDs to replace them (if you want, not sure why one wouldn't, though).

Indeed. Unfortunately I've run out of info about the new one so there's still an equal chance it's either been scrapped or still somehow being worked on. Another downside; we don't have any Cooler Master reps from the division the ATCS came from; it'd be nice if we ever got one so we could get some real news.
