S3 or S4?

Alright so I'm adding my girlfriend onto my Sprint plan, and I'm debating on whether or not to get her the S4, or save myself some money and get the S3.

Radio shack is selling the S3 for 45$ with a 2/yr and the S4 is 200$ with 2/yr.

I personally own the S4, and am very happy with it. I upgraded to the S4 from an S2, so I don't know much other than specs as far as S3 goes...

She doesn't really do much with the phone besides watch youtube, and play a few games... Nothing intense, no crazy graphically intense games or anything really were performance would be a concern.

What I am worried about, is that I remember when the S3 came out, and I had my S2, Jelly Bean was rolling out, and my S2 started to run like crap, pretty much unusable... and I made it last all unit S4 launch. I really just don't know what to do... I'm not really looking forward to spending 200 for the phone plus the 100 dollar deposit... but if the S3 is just going to suck, in a few months then I'm not going to waste my money and buy that.

So that's my problem, I can't decide on my own, S3 or S4? Or maybe something completely different? Please leave your recommendation below,

Thanks

Well I had all the galaxy phones from s1 s2 s3 s4 and note 2 to be honest with you I'll get her the s4. If you use a s3 after using a s4 the s3 is very slow just feels very sluggish and trust me 2 years down the line it just be very slow. I feel the s4 is a very very good phone and it will hold up in the long run by far. I know you said she really doesn't do much on the phone but trust me the s4 is more well put then the s3 was. There was a point where all i had were slowdowns on the s3 after a few months of use and it has happen to my family and friends. Just my 2cents!

why just those two phones? There are other good phones out right now that don't cost $200. I personally love my sg4, but i'd consider myself a "power" user. She sounds like a moderate user. It doesn't sound like she'll be looking to break any benchmarks.

Yeah exactly, she isn't trying to break benchmarks but at the same time, she is coming from a Galaxy S2, and nobody likes when things don't work smooth.

Can you recommend another phone?

HTC One and the S4 are the current top Android phones you can get.

The main thing about the S4 over the S3 noticeably is the battery life and how smooth the phone is overall. Also including the many camera features she will be able to play around with if she takes a lot of pictures...
Also if she watches TV, there is the IR remote feature...
