Best GTX 780 design for SLI?

Thread Starter
I've currently got 2x EVGA GTX 580 SC running in SLI and I'm thinking about replacing them with GTX 780s (I game @ 1600p). I was leaning towards the EVGA GTX 780 w/ACX cooling but then I started reading that cooling solutions like this tend to disperse more heat *into* the case rather than exhaust it out the back like the reference cooler. Is there any truth to that? And if so, wouldn't that seem a little counter intuitive to a multi-GPU setup?

Well the reference coolers blow the hot air out of the case which may be good but on the other side the aftermarket ones keep the cards around 10 degrees colder(at least thats how it is with single card configurations). So it will be hard to decide but maybe you can find some tests on the Internet. I would say, go with the aftermarket if you have good airflow in the case.

P.S. The aftermarket ones are also quieter which is another bonus.

Blower style coolers for SLI or Crossfire. The stock TITAN style coolers on the GTX 780 do a great job at cooling and being quiet. They look boss too.specool.gif

I agree, reference is the only way to go IMO
