Audio Technica ATH-AD70 question

Thread Starter
I know these headphones have some audio leak because they are an open design, how bad is the audio leak though? Usually I only use my headphones when the game has bad language in it, obviously it will depend on how loud I have the volume but can the audio typically be heard from 5-10 feet away while using these?

I need to find some new headphones that are comfortable. My Sennheiser HD439's hurt my ears after an hour or two.

Would my ASUS DG still be a good card for positional audio for these or would a different card be better?

These would be strictly for gaming, no music.

the audio is from my (old) AD700x, recorded with a gopro just sitting below my chin

hope that helps smile.gif

In certain cases it might've been quieter to put them on than to listen to someone wearing them....now that might be a bit of an exaggeration but it's not too far off to actually say they might be just as loud with them on than off...... or at least that's how it sounds to everyone in another room when I used to use them. tongue.gif

They might be the worst leaking headphones I've ever heard and if you only put them on to avoid bad language then at least you're comfort level will be at a high peak as the cursing is sent throughout your home. They're comfort is top notch and I could wear mine for long 12+ hour stretches without any issue, but they're leaking is just as impressive. They should automatically be disqualified from your consideration if you have any respect for others or want any form of privacy.

Btw I loved and miss my old AD 700s. sad-smiley-002.gif

Wrong headphones tongue.gif but the OP should consider the A700's line over the AD line.

*edit* just realized you had an X didnt even know there were an AD700x.......god I've been away far too long. That video has them much quiter than my old AD700s......hmmmmmmm

I guess I could just play my audio higher than most but in comparison to my other phones I think only the HD555 leaked more.

I would ask if it all possible swing by a guitar center or somewhere and see if you can test some phones out, that's the only real way to know how you feel about them OP.
