Bitcoins is as much of a fiat currency as every currency heir is, Rarity is a mindset not a reality. Gold might be shiny and malleable but the actaul need for gold is far less than the exchange rate lets on.
The same goes for Bit Coins, Swiss Franc, the old D-Mark and so forth, We can have a currency based on gold or shells, even brittle cubes made of sandstone and toiletwater would do but no matter how hard to get we'll wreck it right away.

Using Gold as a stable currency is betting against technology and progressy and if you don't get why you shouldn't be in this discussion.

(The supply of gold will increase with mote effecient methods of extraction and inflation ensues.

Except for the whole centralized banking monopoly thing, and its band of merry badguys.

gold will always hold a value no matter what. if it's cheap, buy it. the only time gold will be useless is during a zombie apocalypse maybe- but even then it might have a high barter value.

also, didnt the annunaki already take off with a majority of the world's gold?
