How long after installing processor?

Thread Starter
I just installed an Opteron 175. Right now the core temp is idle at 37-38 C*

Are these temps the normal for it or will they go down in a couple days?
Thanks

well if you used arctic silver 5(or other thermal compounds) It will take a 300 hour "burn in" period during which you should not let your computer run 24/7. You should let it run for a while then let it cool down to ambient and stay for a while. You should notice about a 3-4 drop in temps.

What are your ambients? It sounds about right....after 200 hours, the AS5 should be completely seated, and temps are expected to drop 2-3 degrees C.

Im sure it'll go down after the burn-in period on the thermal paste.. Whats your ambient? 38C is normal but it sounds a bit high.. but then again my idle is like 14C lol.
