Whats a strong material for a chair mat in rooms with carpet?

Ive been using this cheap plastic mat for my chair that i bought from Office Depot probably a couple years back for 30 bucks. A lot of the plastic has been cracking and chipping off especially in the areas where i sit for a long periods.

Ive seen material like polycarbonate or vinyl? or plastic? or whats something heavy duty???? I want something i wont have to replace after years; sometimes like a computer desk may go on top of it and it can be a serious PITA to remove everything just to pull the mat out.

Does anyone use something that they liked/ and would recommend? Or where to buy these plastic mats? Is office depot the only good place?

I think i only need 48x60 (standard) size mat....

haha, same thing happened to me. My chair mat is all cracked. My wife just said I am too fat because it doesn't happen on her chair mat. I would be interested to know what are some of the better chair mat out there for heavy people like myself.

I personally prefer the chair mats from office max. I had one for years until it started cracking. I purchased one from staples that I am currently using. It is less than a year old and I already want to replace it b/c it does not stay in place. I think it is b/c the office max mat had long barbs on the bottom to catch the carpet. But the Staples chair mat does seem to be a softer material so it will probably last long if I don't replace it due to sliding too much.
