Hmm. Id almost say take the power and make your own screen backlighting but i have no idea how that would work. Tho maybe if you find a cracked but otherwise working screen on ebay or something you could scavange parts from that

ive thought about making a resistor board and putting a strip of LED lights in and just running them right in the same spot as the bulb would.

Are there part numbers on the part itself?

Inverter board:
http://www.tristatemodule.com/p-20102-lj97-01794a-acer-tv-module-backlight-inverter-ssi270_6ua01-b273hu.aspx
I have used Tristate Module for parts and they have been amazing.

I've never used these guys, but they have the lamps:

And they have an Amazon store-front:
http://www.amazon.com/Backlight-Straight-Desktop-2048X1152-LCD/dp/B004WWML9K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375295141&sr=8-1&keywords=b273hu

Edit: It may be more cost effective to just buy a new monitor, but at least these should be the parts you would need.

http://www.amazon.com/Flexible-Strip-LED-Ribbon-Ledwholesalers/dp/B002QQ1YOM Something like that will work better, and then you can stick the extra to the bottom of the screen to light up your desk or something. It should work but your LEDs might provide... blotchy lighting if they arent spaced right. Would make it look like the screen is lit from behind by several flashlights or something equally weird.
