i5 2500K Locked at 33 mutiplier

Hi, my i5 2500k was working fine on my Asus P8Z68 gen 3 motherboard.

I moved it to a Z77 motherboard for a while and had an i3 2120 in my Asus P8Z68.

After I moved my i5 2500K back to the P8Z68 I updated it to the latest bios and after that the multiplier will not go above 33.

I have tried updating bios again, clearing cmos and removing battery.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Definitely sounds like a problem with the CMOS. What happens when you set the bios to defaults? Is the multiplier locked, or does it only lock once you are attempting a custom multiplier?

Its at 33 after I have set defaults in bios.

If I type in another number, that's over 33, and press return it immediately goes back to 33.

Can't remember with my Asus, but have you tried the + and - buttons yet. I know that is how i change things in my bios now. edit: Also check the Asus P8Z68 club, because i think the newer bios' are real buggy.

No + - doesn't work.

Where are you changing the multiplier? On my ASUS Z68 board I don't do it on the screen thats obvious, it has to be changed on the CPU advanced settings.

Don't do it here:

Go to the advnaced tab. under CPU
