New system up and running!!! Need some advice

Thread Starter
Hello. I finally got my new system up and running. I want to test it with prime95, but I am unsure how to run two instances of the program so that it stresses each core. Can someone please advise on how this can be done? Thanks!

id recommend running orthos using the stress cpu (small ffts) feature.

i believe some say you just run 2 prime95 at the same time. just open it twice. not positive on that tho

i think what he meant was that he doesnt know HOW to open two of them at the same time. Have you just tried double clicking it twice? If that doesnt work then i dont know.

Not knowing anything about Prime95 myself I'd say you would open Task Manager (Ctrl-Shift-Esc) and go to the processes tab. right click the first instance of Prime95 and set it's affinity to the core you want. Run the second instance of Prime95 and set it's affinity to the other core.

If you can't get a second copy of Prime95 open do this:

I have a second user account with a password:
Right click the Prime95 exe file and select Run as Another User.

I don't have a second account:
Set one up as Admin and give it a simple password.

Prime95 doesn't stress both at once already?

Yeah I couldn't get two running at the same time. Not sure why. You say Orthos does a better stress test? I'll try that

Re-read this part, you may have skipped over it

It'll pop up a box asking you which user to run it as just put in the username and pass you setup for it and blamo it thinks it's running under another user's session.

That didn't work either. Everytime I try to load a second session of it, even through another account, it just closes down and pops up the other one. What is the link for Orthos?

Currently, after 30 minutes, my Orthos is stable. I haven't yet OC'd, but my idle tem on both cores is about 30-32 and at load 44/41 (respectively) using CoreTemp

I guess I have some good headway to OC since I have decent temps
