New to wc'ing. Radiator help...

Hello! I have a few questions....

I know it is recommended to have more rads but since my case is limited in space, this will have to do. My main reason is not so much the temps as it is the noise. My current fans are not so quiet and my gpu's stock cooler can get somewhat noisy.

So the rad would be front mounted in a push/pull config using 4 x Corsair Air Series SP120 Quiet Edition fans with one top mounted Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition exhaust fan.

What kind of temps should I expect with a single rad (Alphacool NexXxoS Monsta 240 Radiator) for an overclocked cpu and gpu? Do you think this will at least perform better than any air-cooled solution?

Thanks for any help!

Also, would this specific rad perform much better than the Alphacool NexXxoS UT60 Full Copper 240mm? The Monsta is maybe an inch thicker than this one...

almost criminal..

My advice would be to get a case that supports more rads.. 360 rad is bare minimum for a loop with both CPU and GPU

I never used a monsta.. but it might work since you got good fans in push/pull.. I hope someone more knowledgeable can put some light on this
Not sure, but monsta is soo thick, so it might actually be able to move more heat then a thinner 360.

sorry I cant be at more help frown.gif

Yeah, that was my thinking as well. I was hoping the Monsta rad's thickness would make up for just having a single 240.

I guess just as long as it is reasonably more efficient than air cooling. I know it will be quieter than my current set up...anything would be (save for strapping a jet engine to it). biggrin.gif

You are pushing the limits of the Rad. A bigger case or an external Rad would be your best bet. BTW, it's very difficult to beat the UT 60's.

Well I'm no pro either but i know that having for example a double thick 240mm rad doesn't make up for a 480mm there just not comparison. It just won't make up for it, especially because you want the fans quiet it won't make up for it ... I'd really recommend getting a more watercooling friendly case, or modding your current one if possible... but I'm assuming this is for your sig rig, with the Lian Li PC-V600F you chose M-atx for a reason so you probably won't change case tongue.gif I'd mod it IMO and try to get maybe 2 of those Monsta rads inside ...

Oh yea.. I forgot to suggest:

you could water cool the CPU and get a new air cooler for the GPU! I had one on an older card.. dropped temps from 70-85C and loud as hell to 50-60 and dead silent (not sure if it would fit Titan though)

but well.. if you are gonna make a costume loop for the CPU, you will probably want to add the GPU at some point smile.gif

my original advice is still my best.. get a "better" case wink.gif

Thx for the help guys. I may look in to modding the case to fit in another rad but I was wondering, do you think I can get by with one for right now? Would it at least be better than air cooling?

....and the UT60 would perform comparable to the Monsta?

That's a LOT of heat to be putting on only a double thick 240mm, so I'm thinking it's gonna be worse than what you have now, I don't know what your cooling is at the moment but while gaming your liquid temps will soar... though it will be better cooling at startup tongue.gif but once it heats up it will only get hotter and hotter until it reachs a sort of equilibrium where the rad cools the liquid enough that the heat coming out of the system stays consistent, If that makes any sense, and that would be pretty hot I'm thinking... especially when gaming.
