For Sale or Trade:
[SOLD] - i7 3820, Evga X79 FTW [K2], and Samsung Green 2x4GB [Negotiable]
Will Ship To: US48
I am asking $380 shipped OBO. I will not split the motherboard/CPU and I will not sell the RAM without the MOBO/CPU having a buyer. If you are interested in anything else in my rig however, we might be able to work something additional out.
Appraisal (OCN) ($400-515)
I have kept the CPU has spent most of it's life under water with it being primarily left at stock clocks. When the power was required however I would run it at 4.5-4.6GHz). RAM has been kept at 1600mhz w/ stock timings/voltage for almost it's entire life. It did past Memtest and ran just fine for around a month when I had it running at 2133MHz however).
CPU - Very common overclockability/voltages.
RAM - Pretty much self-explanatory. Could hit 2133mhz with cookie cutter timings/voltages. Never tried anything better then that.
MOBO - Has none of the USB hub problems nor any of the annoying bugs that the boards commonly has(that I have experienced). It is the newer revision. Outside of being finicky with timings and how you overclock it(lacks frequency/voltage scaling) it has treated me great despite the stigma.Further information on the matter (Click to show)
I'll agree that much of the stigma is well deserved but it is also largely a luck of the draw things. Some boards are worse then others and some are more quirkier then others. Not sure if it's just a matter of people with decent boards not complaining or what but I'd definitely say my board is one of the better ones.
The only thing you are really sacrificing is the CPU offset stuff, built in temperature display(when using UEFI), a modern looking bios and XMP profile recognition. Nothing else is immediately coming to mind. More of a nuisance then anything else. Board doesn't have any of the idle core bugs, usb hub surge warnings, USB clusters not working, or any of the other common stuff.
I will provide what support I can.
Obligatory Image Attempt #2:
- i3 (any would do)
- i5 (non-k)
- ITX boards. H or Z with preference towards the latter
- ITX case. Particularly the Node 304.
- 2x8GB Kit
- SFF-like cooler
