okay question
This is the computer my friend just bought a few days ago
When he talks on his mic it sounds like hes in a bubble underwater
Any idea what we can do to try to fix it?
i dont know if he needs to update his sound drivers .... or if its something else.
The laptop mic as well as him buying a headset... with out a headset i couldnt even hear him he sound a 100 miles away with a head set i can hear him but it still sounds like its not the best quality and he has the turtlebeach x12 headset.

This is probably because "Echo Cancellation" or "Noise Reduction" is enabled on the sound input device.  First, make sure that the volume is set correctly (high enough) on his input device (Control Panel\Sound\Recording tab\Microphone\Properties\Levels tab).  If it is set too low, the you will have to turn your volume way up to hear him, and his voice will be just above the noise threshold of the noise reduction/echo cancellation, possibly causing the bubbly artifacts your mentioned.  If that doesn't help (or the volume is set correctly on the input device), try hunting for options to disable "Echo Cancellation" or "Noise Reduction" and see if that helps.

Lenovo laptop mic's are generally very bad. Well laptop integrated mics are generally bad. Had some troubleshooting experiences with a Lenovo Ideapad Z570 and there was absolutely nothing I could do in software to increase the volume without introducing massive distortion. Quality was very bad also. Just grab a clip mic for $5 or a proper headset. That is, if the suggestions above didn't work.

My sound is fine with everyone else i speak to using skype. Its on his laptop that is messed up. Without using a headset and just the built in mic, when he talks he sounds like he so far away along with sounding like hes talking in a bubble. With his headset its the Turtle beach x12, I can Actually hear him when he talks but it still sounds like hes in a bubble when he talks. Thats the best I can explain it. I've googled updateing the drivers for his sound but i cant find the exact place to do that just some reviews others say they had more trouble with the updated drivers than without them. Can anyone help or have any idea what might fix this issue?
