Widows 8 upgrade

Thread Starter
I want to get a copy of Win 8 upgrade but when I read the description it says since I am running Win7 Pro then all the files will be deleted.

I am just having all these issues with the Win7 since I had to RMA my motherboard so I wanted to say heck with it might as well get win 8 for the desktop and play with it since my new Windows 8 phone gets activated on Monday.

Also are there Key's there are legal that are cheaper than doing the upgrade. I am a student as well as military so it helps a little bit.

If you are a student than you can usually get a big discount through the school bookstore.

You can do a clean installation of win 8 without having to use a win7 installation. Follow these directions when it comes time to activate the upgrade copy http://randomwindowstips.wordpress.com/2009/12/05/windows-7-clean-install-upgrade-license-key-error-code-0xc004f061/

I can get a student discount on Office 2013 but not on Windows. I know it is 69.99 from Microsoft for the Win8 upgrade. I just hate it that I cannot buy one copt of like WinXP and install it on 3 computers. You use to be able to do that and it was worth the 150-200 dollar price.

Thanks for the info on the WIn 8 install. So I do have a copy of Win7 home edition from my ex wife (I think that is where my Win7pro disk is at) and if I do not register it online I "might" be able to install Win8 upgrade over the top and register that maybe.
