Different sized fans and radiators

Thread Starter
I recently bought the Phantom 630 case which has a 200mm fan up top in the "attic" with room for a second which I do plan on using.
I am wondering if I would be able to mount a 360mm (3 x 120mm) rad on the ceiling with the 2 x 200mm cooling it (in pull).
I just need to know if it is even possibe, or do the radiator screws have to go through the fans which mean I couldn't use 200mm fans to cool a 120mm rad. Or, in my case, since the fans are in a separate "compartment" from the radiator, if it WOULD work?

I was able to try my RADS up there and use the 200mm fans. I didn't have a 360mm, but yes I got it mounted along with the fans, using shorts screws for the rad and then mounting the 200mm with the screws they use stock. I cant say if this cooled properly or not though, its not the same as having fans that fit the RAD the proper way. At the time I tried it, I was using the Corsair H110, which has a 280mm RAD.

Okay awesome!
Looks like I'm going to remove the side fan and mount it up top, through a radiator up there, then mod the window on the side to make it larger!biggrin.gif

Using a 200mm fan on a 120mm thick rad wont do you any good in terms of performance. Id make a bracket to mount over the top of the case to fit the rad with standard 120mm fans.
