That would destroy it for me, but I don't think Chris Robert's has that in mind at least thumb.gif
The difference is going to be that there isn't a single path. In WoW, there was only two options, and both had similar rewards structures. In SC, someone wanting to explore isn't going to benefit from capturing and holding a Bengal Carrier unless they've somehow found an entire corp dedicated to exploration.

Similarly, someone mainly interested in being a crafter or mercenary isn't going to find themselves on the fringes of known space.

I have never heard about a goon or goonswarm ingame, but I searched it up.

From what I understand it is when a larger number of people protect one big ship, and will willingly sacrifice either to protect the main ship or capturing someone else's? Or by "zerging" others.
Since I have around 5-7mates who will be flying besides my Constellation, and we will work as a team (Not zerg style) will that make us a "goonswarm"?

Goonswarm isn't a term but rather a name. It's the banner that SomethingAwful.com users fly under and they typically use rather underhanded tactics. Have fun: http://www.eve-wiki.net/index.php?title=GoonSwarm

They shouldn't be too big of a factor in SC. Instancing alone will do a lot to limit their power.

Goons rely on overwhelming numbers. They get stomped often enough by skilled EVE pilots / clans / corps / whatever folks call themselves that I'm not worried that they have the individual, or even group, talent to overwhelm a few well-practiced sim pilots. They've annoyed enough people in EVE that the Goon-hunt should spawn quite a few youtube vids worth watching. thumb.gif

It saddens me to say I am now wholly disappointed with my backing of Planetary Annihilation. The game just isn't going in the direction I want.

That being said, is RSI still accepting backers?

Okay. What's this insurance? Like ship insurance? And Lifetime Insurance?

Where can I read about all this stuff? I want to purchase the right package. Also, where can I read about gameplay? I want to know how the game will work. (Their forums are kind of hard to read.)

it means that if your payed ship is destroyed you get it back after some time, so you dont have to take out loan to buy starter ship aurora i believe.
before it ment that you would get your super ship back aside of upgrades. now this insurance is time limited, nevertheless you can purchase the insurance in game so its not that bad. also there are intervals that are getting larger when you repeatably crash/lose your ship

Yeah, that makes sense. Will be exiting to see how it is with my own eyes! smile.gif
Thank you for the link and explanation, goonswarm now makes more sense hehe.

Thank you, I understood that from the link above, basically a large zerg group with no skill rolleyes.gif
I can't wait to have some fun with the zerger's in SC (As in me taking them down)! Will watch some videos on youtube to see how they act in EVE!

Basically like Revro said in the last post, works like insurance in real life. To get the lifetime insurance you have to be an original backer or get it gifted from one (I am one, so just PM me if interested).
Although its no biggie not to get the LTI, as you can buy it later on for ingame money at a decent price from what I understand. So you can get the insurance you need anyways.

All of this should get you a pretty decent look on what to expect! smile.gif

Here you can get a little broader perspective on the game, I would advice you to watch the video first and then go step by step downwards: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/about-the-game

Not really Zergs as every power block in EVE is constrained to the same game play. Their moto is we'll ruin your game. Most of their underhanded tactics come in way of political and economic meta gaming (OTEC, back stabs, etc.). As a group they hold more power in EVE because of their masses (as other powerblocks do).

But yeah, wiping goons is going to be easy and enjoyable at the same time in Star Citizen.

I just can't wait for the HD version of Rift to come out. It's the only equipment I'm missing.

hmm i was just reading this economy info on the webpage and i am starting to get worried about oligarchy of few players who would be able to get their hands first on the factories, and then create artificial bottlenecks to drive prices up. i mean they could actually hire of books pirates tongue.gif to harass their own supply lines to increase the prices for everyone ...

also if you pay in store on their webpage with euros do you get money withdrawn in usd or eur? i mean is it 1:1 or 1eur is 1.3usd?

thank you

They shouldn't be too big of a factor in SC. Instancing alone will do a lot to limit their power.

WoW got where it was because of the social aspect of things. It was a more finished product than EQ was, and managed to get out of the niche that other MMOs got caught in. Raids could be challenging, but the game was do-able for pretty much anyone. And again, the big raid groups brought in a lot of people.

It remains to be seen if SC can break out like that. My money is that it won't. That's not necesarily bad though. Look at WoW, once Blizzard got a taste of mass memberships, they started getting greedy. They watered down everything, and simplified things to get more people. It worked for a while numbers wise, but quickly wore out their vetren core.

I think SC can have plenty of success by keeping to what it stands for. A great example of how that works is Eve. Eve is very niche, yet it has a core that is so strong, the game seems like it will never die. (Oh, I'm not an Eve guy either, this is just an observation I've made. I'm an X guy.)

On a side note, I hope SC has a great community I can get into. I miss the old WoW days, where I made a few friends that became so close we met up face to face.
