kernels_per_reduction; is the most critical one, most AMD cards can easily support a setting of 50 here higher end 52.

threads; again anything 7950 and above can support 8

sieve_size; sets the amount of work each cycle, 27 is good 28 is better will also work.

kernals is the critical one. on mine, 7970's & 7990's, they easily run at 54, anymore and the processing starts slowing down. 2 minute work unit is the target. (although I have had them down at 1:45)

Welcome to the team @Egilman, and thanks for the Collatz settings.  I had posted some conservative settings, that came straight from the Collatz forum.

 

What is your PPD with the above settings?  I think I was at roughly 2.5 million PPD on a 7970 clocked at 1175/1550.

I'm averaging about the same under strong declock/devolt (1.0volts /950clock /1800 mem clock on a 7990)

You should get about 2.7 to 2.8 million with those settings and an overclock. At least a 10% improvement if you can keep them cool.

The three settings that matter are as specified and what happens if you go over is the cards starts to slow down on crunching so it's an easy process to fine tune them for your setup

8 threads is a given like I said any modern video card can handle 8 threads. you can go as high as 10 on that, but AMD doesn't really play well over 8.

lut_size if the size of the sample sent to the card my testing sets this at 17 at 18 the processing slows down at higher settings.

kernel is the kicker, the one that tells the software how much work to actually do. set it as high as you can while the software doesn't lose any crunch speed. you can do up to 64 but mine won't go past 54 and I run at 52.

Another thing, Collatz Seive LOVES fast memory. I have my card memory set up to 1800 clock on the 7990's 20% boost.
Teh program just eats it right up.

bumping it up should give you a 10 to 15% bump in production right off the bat. thumb.gif

A year and a half ago I climbed to #2 been away for 15 months, time to climb back into #1...... biggrin.gif

Thanks for the tip on the mem speed.  I have quite a bit of headroom on my memory so I will bump those clocks up, and try out your settings on my gpu.config.

I just put two boxen back on this Haf 1 & Blackhawk 4.

8 Tahitis, will probably switch another tommorrow maybe Blackhawk 2.

That will put 12 GPU's on this project.

Lets see what they do.....

Very nice.  With 12 GPUs on Collatz, you should be able to hold off Cruncher Pete, and continue on your march to the top. :D
