I'll say, if you don't play in 3D, get a 1440p monitor and overclock it to 80 or 120 Hz.

Recently, i've been itching to get a 1440p monitor, but i game in 3D on my 120hz monitor, and i don't want to loose that feature. redface.gif

I'd rather get a 2560x1440 screen now and wait for the 120hz tech to move further along/gain more support/some other 3rd variable linked to price.

Maybe you can see the bullets hitting you at 1440p tongue.gif

Disclaimer: I don't play FPS'.

I'd rather play at a higher resolution and see if I could run it at higher Hz by overclocking. Definitely would get the 1440p.

120 Hz feels A LOT better when gaming, especially in FPS games. If you can you should try out the 120 Hz monitor if you still haven't, some people don't see a big difference and maybe you're one of them.

+1 to this, A 120Hz monitor with the light boost hack is even better

1440p no question. I have a few 1440p displays, amongst the other common resolutions (1080p/1200p/1600p... Just need a 21:9 now), and I play FPS games almost exclusively.

Some people are a bit elitist about displays, but frankly you have two choices:
1440p: impeccable color, no need for anything greater than FXAA/SMAA (equivalent to somewhere between 4-8xMSAA @ 1080p to my eyes), more viewable space, huge benefits from the extra workspace outside games, etc
120hz: terrible color/contrast for a reduction of (NOT elimination of) motion blur, stuck with TN panel, etc

The Asus displays use PLS panels, second only to the new AH-IPS in terms of being as good as it gets for visuals and even increasing pixel response times over older IPS types.

I would, regardless, try both in a store and see which you prefer.
