[Help Asap!] Applied CLU, but ended up with higher temps! 4770k Delidded. - Page 2

I'm quite sure the CLU i have under the IHS is perfectly fine as my temperatures radically change when i changed between CLU and normal paste ON the IHS-Cooler.

If the CLU under the die would be applied in a bad way or something like that, I'd see crazy temperatures right now. But I'm not. I'm seeing pretty much the same temps as with MX-4 under the IHS as with CLU.

Regular paste has great contact between the ihs and cooler. The CLU had very good contact between the IHS and cooler in my last try, but temps weren't competing with my MX-4.

What speed and voltage are you at right now?

I think i can lower my voltage to 1.3, but its at 1.35. and Clockspeed is at 46(4600mhz). Not sure if i can go higher. Tried going above 1.4 at 4.7, but no luck.

Have yet not tried to lower the Cache yet.

Okay, that's your issue right there and not a delidding issue. The title was a bit misleading. But you can probably get better cooling to help with the heat issue.

You can also try to change the title if you can and maybe some HASWell owners can help you lower the temp with your overclock.

We are here and trying to help, but his problem seems to be unrelated to haswell architecture.

I have a H80i, I don't think my cooling is the issue here. I honestly believe it's just the Haswell being Haswell, warm as hell.

I have my old H80(first version) laying around. Should i try and see if there's a difference with temps? Radiator might be weird on the new H80i?

(Don't ask me why i bought the H80i... i read wrong and assumed the h80 didnt fit into a a 1150 socket..)

If you are at 1.35V at 4.6, then temps in the 80s are about right for a cooler like that. As long as you've fixed the 100C problem, then you are probably about where you are going to be.

When you say it like that, it sounds like the H80i is a bad cooler, which it isnt.. The only ones better would be the H100 and the extremely expensive watercooler from whatever company it was that i cant remember right now. (Or a real watercooling solution, but im not very experienced with that).

But yes, I do believe that i can't get any higher core clock than this :/ I'm at 1.3V now at 4.6ghz, i dont think i can go lower on the vcore than that.

It's not a bad cooler per se, it's just that Haswell temps ramp significantly when you add voltage.
