Sound from subwoofer port, but not rear speakers?

I just recently installed an older sound card I had (SB0410) in order to hook up 2 more speakers. I have the sound outputs setup for quadraphonic, and I only get sound from the front speakers when the rear speakers are plugged into the orange port, where they are supposed to be, but I get low tones (as I should) from the subwoofer port. I've been digging around the settings and there is nothing that lets me choose to use the rear speakers, even if I put it in 5.1 mode. Help?

The cable for your rear speakers should be plugged into the black port, not the orange port.  Read this: Sound card color codes.  Green is for front speakers, black for rear speakers.  Orange is for subwoofer/center, which you may not need/have if your speakers have a built-in crossover (i.e. they internally generate a subwoofer channel from the audio on the other channels).
Also, you will only hear audio out of the rear speakers if a program is playing 4 channel (or higher) audio.  Stereo audio will only play out of the front speakers.  However, many soundcards have the ability to up-mix stereo sound to the rear speakers if that is what you want (look for CMSS on a Creative soundcard).

Yeah I realized the color coding just a while ago. That was a mistake on my part. But I did get it to work, thanks smile.gif
