My previous PSU the Tagan 480W also had problems the first time round with buzzing noises - the replacement I received has served me well to this day since 2004.

I'm aware I don't need a PSU with 650W however I'll be switching to Haswell next week when it arrives and appreciate the headroom for overclocking and maybe the option to add a very high end GPU if I ever decided to.

Do you have any PSUs in mind to suggest otherwise?

The modular 450W Rosewill Capstone (the 450-M) would be far better and it will have all the power you need - unless you want to do heavy overclocking on a high-end video card like the 7970 or the GTX 780. Otherwise, it would be more than enough. So, it really depends on if you'll be overclocking the high-end video card.

Also, I wasn't saying that you should have gone with the TX550M. On the contrary, I'd like to see you avoid Corsair because you can usually get a better PSU for about the same price, or a comparable one for less.

Ah unfortunately due to the fact I live in the UK Rosewill PSUs are not readily available. Also I had already applied for the replacement from Amazon yesterday evening and shipped off the faulty one for free.
