I have this Lenovo LCD monitor and there is a problem with power cord..need to know if my temp replacement will work

Okay so i have this lenovo LCD LXH-GJ17L3. Now its power cord started to malfunction so i was searching for a temporary replacement. I found out that this monitor requires 12v and 3.5A of supply. Then i also found out that the PSU of my cpu also have a output of 12v and 2A.
So i connected the monitor to this supply. will it be a problem for the monitor? because so far it has worked fine i want it to continue to work till i get my new cord.

It should work fine; and in fact, I suggest that you leave it that way and don't worry about the power adapter for your monitor.  I frequently perform this modification for convenience (you never have to turn the monitor on or off because it turns on and off with the computer), desk space (neater without the extra cord going to the wall, and the monitor already one going to the computer), wall outlet space, and power efficiency (one power supply instead of two, and some computer power supplies are more efficient anyway). thumb.gif
The only thing worrisome to me in your situation, is you said that your computer's power supply only supplies 2A on the 12V output.  Either this is a really old computer, or you will be running the PSU at the max and won't be able to run the LCD monitor very bright without the PSU switching off.  My guess is that the 2A figure isn't right.  8–20A would be more typical, and fully adequate.
