I'd say you go "Save and get that new card ASAP! You don't want to be without a card if the old one breaks on you." Also, could it be a software or heat issue? Try and see.

What you do is you stretch afterburner out across the screen and then minimize it.Play the game a bit and then minimize it and check your gpu speed to see if it throttled.

If you really feel your card is dying, I'd say buy an older, used graphics card locally or here on OCN, just in case your current one dies, you won't be SOL without a GPU until you can save the money to get a new one. A backup card is always nice to have, but definitely not a necessity.

If it eventually does die, you'll have the backup card and can then decide what you want to save for from there. If you're looking for a big upgrade, a GTX 780 would definitely be it, but it's quite pricey as well.

That would probably just make me rage cause I couldn't game properly on it. I think I'll be fine waiting the 7 1/2 weeks till I get the new card.
Not getting a GTX 780, I still have an expensive ram kit and 1440p monitor to buy. And after that an Intel CPU and new mobo. It would be different if I had three 1440p monitors and my long-term Intel CPU already, but there's still a bunch of stuff to get. The ram kit is the last part to get for inside the case minus the replacement mobo/CPU.

BTW, would the G. Skill TridentX 2400 mhz 4x8 GB ram kit still be available a year from now? I was wondering if I should get a second kit right after, so I'm not struggling to find a matching one when I buy the Rampage 4 Extreme later on. I think it would probably still be there, because G. Skill would probably have an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" attitude. Plus, why waste R&D money?

So.... after having to reboot and then losing my firefox session, I started up Borderlands 2 and it played butter-smooth.

I guess the lesson here is don't let my tab count get to the point where I can't even cull them. (400 or so)

I also turned off hardware acceleration in firefox just as a precaution.
I still need a new card though. I'm sort of tempted to save for a GTX Titan at the NCIX Boxing Day Sale biggrin.gif
