Doubt it. ArenaNet tried that with GW2. Didn't turn out well at all.

it's not just GW2. from the way it sounds they are trying to use multi-classing /cough Rift /cough to address the issue. not saying Rift is bad, but not as successful as it could be and definitely not breaking the trinity model ESTABLISHED by EQ1 biggrin.gif

no matter what game you play, at the end game, you have specialization. it's the only way to be successful when you are dealing with things FAR above and beyond casual players. yah you can gimp the content so you don't need a full time tank or a full time cleric... but you are GIMPING THE CONTENT to do that.... not because the multi-classing thing actually helped with anything. sure back in EQ1 rangers and pallys can heal. just not while I'm tanking vishimtar biggrin.gif

Boy I hope so. Like i said.. Reserving judgement till we know more. You're right... We've seen very little of what this game is planning to do.

My post is there on customizing weapons would be cool to see a crafting system like this:
Quote:
I am pretty late to the party with this post, and I am not going to go through all 38 pages, but I think it would be totally awesome if you could customize the look of crafted weapons.

Like lets say you are making a battle-axe
How about recipes (drops or from vendors) for things like size and shape, metal type, shaft type, decorations, and effects.

This could give you a pretty sick looking axe, but lets say you only have the skill to make a bronze one or whatever, then as you level up your smithing you can see the difference in type of metals or what not.

And then when you get to be more masterful you can craft some flair into your axe, lets say you can engrave a sweet looking sigil into the axe blade, or some dangley fangs from that super cool vampire bat you slayed hanging off of the handle. Or after you slayed that dragon, that took months of hard work, you can forge an epic looking axe with a giant dragon fang as a back spike.

Anyways, thats just some thoughts on it, I know it would be hard to implement, but it would make for a very layered crafting system, and like Ogres and onions crafting should be layered.
