if reports from South Korea's Asia Economic are to be believed. The publication reports that the third Galaxy Note handset will be announced at a gathering in Berlin on Sep. 4, two days ahead of IFA opening its doors to the public. What's more, Samsung may use the same event to launch its smart watch, the existence of which was confirmed by a company executive back in March.
As for the Galaxy Note 3, Asia Economic reports that a 5.7-inch AMOLED panel will be used in the device -- a small bump up from the 5.5-inch Note 2 display -- as well as a "new" Exynos 5 Octa CPU and 3 gigabytes of RAM. If accurate, that'd make Samsung's new hybrid device a formidable beast in terms of both size and specs.
Interesting... Im one of those people stuck on VZW that still hasn't gotten the HTC One.... grrrr... I've been holding out for it, but if I can get the Note 3 less than a month after the One launch, I might just hold out
Its pretty bad news for apple if samsung beats them to the launch of a smart watch. Not only has an iwatch been rumored for forever, the watch craze started from apples ipod nano.
Note 2 still fit inside my pocket, and is great smartphone to watch video, listen to music, and any kind of task, so note 3 shouldn't be a problem, only down side is if you got small finger, you may require second hand to touch stuff
I think i'll stick to the Note 2 until note 4, still have 1 more year of contract left, and wont be worth extra to get a slight bums upgrade, when Note 4 should be available when my 2yr contract is over
I have the Note 1 which is 5.3" and it is totally comfortable and it fits like a glove in almost any pocket.
I dunno about 5.7" though.
Performance wise the Note 1 was a bit underwhelming as the resolution is larger than the other products of the same generation making it a tad slower. Now that almost all high-end smartphones are full HD, the size of the screen doesn't really make a difference in performance, except for battery consumption.
Looks up Note 2's launch day pricing, it is going to be pretty much the same as Note 3's launch day pricing.
As far as screen size/phone size, it is going to be about the same size as Gnote 2 if they following the Galaxy S3->Galaxy S4 design iteration: making the screen bigger by shrinking the bezel around the screen. Just go into a store and try to hold a Note 2.

Note 1: 146.9 x 83 x 9.7 mm (5.78 x 3.27 x 0.38 in)
Note 2: 151.1 x 80.5 x 9.4 mm (5.95 x 3.17 x 0.37 in)
So if the Width of Note 1 isn't a problem then Note2/3 shouldn't be a problem assuming Note 3 is about the same size as Note 2(given that GS4 is about the same size as GS3 I think this is a safe bet). 5.7" screen isn't that much bigger than the 5.55" for the Note 2.
Unless they can do the whole 3D projection thing like in the Iron Man movies what a waste.
At least it'll be even easier to identify the douchebags, there will be people who have decent/amazing pieces and you'll have the people rocking these smart watches.
Thanks for the advice everybody! My friend here has a Note 1 so I tried holding it up and it's a little wide but still manageable. I think I'll probably get the Note 3. I have pretty large hands and I can get a headset for phone-calls so it should work out
The one upsetting part with VZW is that it took them a month or 2 to actually get the S4 into there stores for sales. Even the preorders were a month behind all the other companies.
I have a Galaxy Nexus with a crack in the corner of the screen and horrible battery life and I passed on the S4 to wait for the Note 3 for the screen size and battery life. Also the specs on the Note 2 were underwhelming at this point.. Other than price there wasnt much of reason to get it now, when the 3 is around the corner..
I love looking at the latest rumors on the Note 3 as there has been a lot lately. Happy to finally see a thread pop up on OCN. Even though its not new information for anyone that has been looking elsewhere on the net.
So what for VZW we will have it in our hands by November?
no, it's a set of two quad cores. The phone switches between the two based on whether or not the phone is able to get by with the 4 slower, more power friendly, cores, or if needs to enable the 4 faster, power hungry, cores.
the two can't be used together at the same time. It's one set or the other.

The Note 2 is Samsung's most highly rated smartphone of all time. If they take the Note 2's size, make the screen bigger (Note 2 has some bezel space), add in Galaxy S4 features + S-pen functionality, and use the proposed specs above, Samsung will hit the ball out of the park and into the parking lot. It will be an incredible device

Those specs do seem beastly don't they...... looking forward to it.
