I'll try and make this short. So yesterday I install the new drivers and immediately started having problems. Every game that I launched would shut down my pc as if the power cord was pulled. Upon restart no type of error at all. So after this happening 5 times in a row (trying different games) the sixth time the pc shutdown and made a muted screeching sound.

PC started but took about 3 minutes so I knew something was up. I go into device manager and only 2 cards are listed instead of 3. I open CC and it only lists 2 way crossfire. So I remove the card and put it into another pc and even though it displayed a picture it was listed as unrecognized device. None of the drivers I tried would install insisting no AMD card found. Removed the card and set it on my desk pretty pissed off.

So today I figured what the hell I'll give it another shot. Install it in my secondary pc and installed 13.6 no problem. Started Tomb Raider and could not set resolution higher than 1024x768. The game ran but at probably 10 fps. Installed MSI AB and it shows my clock speed for both core and memory as zero. I can move the sliders but cannot save the settings. I went into CC and the same thing as AB. I actually was able to play TR for about 20 minutes before it crashed and shutdown the pc.

I removed the card and removed the block and there no signs of damage. Checked the whole card with a magnifying glass and nothing looks burnt.

Does anyone have any idea what could have happened? I'm not blaming the driver for the damage although it sure seems like that's the case. I guess I'm hoping someone can guide me on what to check on the card to hopefully get it working. I emailed AMD when it first happened and 2 times today with no reply. I cannot RMA because I think the stock cooler got thrown out as I can't find it frown.gif

I know most people don't say do this, but I had problems with 13.8 too install, I had to force shut down, then when I rebooted I just downloaded guru 3d no installer version of driver sweeper, ran that a couple times/reboots/ then DELETE THE DRIVER SWEEPER FOLDER IN FULL this is important and where most people go wrong, then i did cc cleaner and registry cleaner, then reinstalled 13.8 and voila everything is running perfect.

Holy crap what a crazy... um, coincidence??? I REALLY don't think it was the driver. Maybe for the hell of it try flicking the BIOS switch, try a new crossfire bridge, etc. etc. Just keep your thoughts at the simple solutions because it always ends up being that. Also try using driver sweeper. BTW did you do any manual changes in the registry for your cards before you installed the new drivers?

hey man, i just remembered hearing about someone who couldnt get their computer to start and then their card wasnt recognized or something like that. im pretty sure it was because they didnt download .net framework 4.5. maybe try that? dont remember where i saw it.
