Well, as to why i didn't buy a reference card, it's because I jumped the gun and didn't pay attention to that particular little detail until after i bought the card, received the card, and ordered a 770 water block. When i got the block it didn't fit, and by that time it was too late to return the gigabyte card. So needless to say it was a bonehead move on my part.
As far as what i'm running;
Asus Maximus VI Extreme
Intel i7 4770k
Gigabyte GV-N770OC-4GD GeForce GTX 770 4GB
EVGA 560 Ti (for dedicated physics only)
G.SKILL Trident X Series DDR3 2400 8GB (x4) - 32GB Total
Samsung 840 Series 250GB SSD (x2, Raid0)
CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W PSU
With three 480 radiators, soon to be converting to four 280 rads with four separate loops.
loop 1 = cpu
loop 2 = chipset/memory
loop 3 = GPU 1
loop 4 = GPU 2
I know sounds like overkill, but the way i'm setting it up with the case i'm building it just looks better, and will perform better.
If i get a 2nd GTX 770 i'll run my 560 in parallel with my chipset/memory loop, that is if i decide to keep it for physics, but i doubt i'd need it with two 770's in SLI... it's a work in progress i guess
