New to this concept.

Thread Starter
can you guys explain what peltiers and TEC cooling is? ive heard the term thrown around like http://www.digitalstormonline.com/cryo-tec.asp technology.
TEC cooling uses an electric current to create a plate that is cold on one side and very hot on the other. You can sandwich the TEC between a waterblock and the CPU to get sub ambient temps on the CPU. However, the hot side of the plate gets very hot and can be difficult to manage all that heat.

Someone else can probably explain it better, but thats my understanding of it.

The electric current (flow of electrons) causes heat to flow. These coolers are very effective, but horribly inefficient. Take a look HERE

just think if you have 156watt perltier/tec that's 160watts of heat but 50watts of cooling so they have to be watercooled as ive tried all different ways smile.gif

Here is the main thing you need to know.
Lets say you are cooling a 200 watts CPU, so you will need to dissipate about 600 watts on the TEC hot side.
