I want you to re-read that and take a good look at what is wrong with that sentence.
ProTip: When you act like your some elite computer builder JUST BECAUSE YOUR A OCN MEMBER this just goes to show how very little you know about this hobby, and this site. OCN does not cater to just the elite. It caters too any and everyone that enjoys PC tech. Not everyone here (yes, here as in OCN) builds or even has a desire to build a gazillion dollar gaming machine. There are many walks of life here, not just PC gamers. It doesn't take a genius to understand what I am getting at. Does it?
To act like anything under the sun that isn't TOP TEIR HARDWARE is automatically garbage is just a fail on your own part. And no, you cannot buy a Corsair CX quality PSU from Dell or HP or Gateway that I know of anyways... Their awesome units for the users that need that kind of PSU. You clearly do not. And because you don't your calling it junk. Typical elitist attitude. But that's fine. w/e.
avoiding the question i see... can't find any comments shilka made about the QUALITY of corsair PSU's so ad hominem is all you got? i think you need to ask yourself what exactly are you doing here? just buy a dell box and be done with it. what are you even doing arguing about topics that do not apply to your computing needs/habit. if you want to OVERCLOCK using an "office/web surfing" quality hardware, go ahead
it's your $. however i don't think its too far fetched to think that people who come to OVERCLOCK.NET has some interest beyond your typical dell box. the questions they ask are based on the assumption that the answer they are going to get APPLIES to the SCOPE of OVERCLOCKING... at the very least, they want to KNOW what is out there beyond their typical dell box...
if you DON'T care for hardware that is DESIGNED for the rigors of what people do here on OCN... why are you here?
if you claim that you are familiar with what is posted in this section of OCN you REALIZE just how often we talk people OUT of buying something they don't need. what is the MOST recommended wattage of SLi on these threads? 650w... NOT 1200w or 1600w that people tend to THINK they need... what we advocate is quality over quantity in this section. a PSU is the 1st and last line of defense for your ENTIRE system. having a stable powersupply can mean you will not have to worry about your system dying of a premature death... the #1 cause of electronic component death is NOT age. it's surge and brown outs. a high quality PSU protects your system FROM those conditions and supply a steady and clean supply of power to all your computer components. THIS is why we advocate quality. it's like buying a bulletproof vest. you WANT quality... BUT not necessarily a corsair "branded" bulletproof vest that cost $200 more even tho it is MANUFACTURED by the same manufacture and of the same MODEL of bulletproof vest as a different brand of bulletproof vest.
so... if you PREFER "web surfing" quality PSU, that's YOUR choice. HOWEVER, do NOT make your assumptions apply to ALL who ask for advice here on OCN. they COME to OCN for a reason. they do NOT want JUST their dell PSU. if they were happy with their dell PSU, they wouldn't be here.... most likely they want to PUSH their system just alittle more then what that dell PSU is rated for or want it to perform just alittle better/quieter.Edited by psyclum - 8/6/13 at 8:17pm
