Samsung 840 pro 256gb dismal benchmarking results using samsung magician software

Hi,

I am getting horrible benchmarking results using the Samsung magician software. My results when the SSD is connected to the Marvell Sata 3 port is lower than when it is connected to the Intel Sata 2 port.

I have updated my bios and marvell driver to the latest.

My system specifications are:

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Intel i5 760 2.80GHz
AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series
ASUS P7H55-M/USB3 Motherboard
16gb DDR3

I know with my system build I won't be able to utilise the SSD to its highest potential, however I do believe to get Sequential reads above 300MB/s and Sequential writes above 250MB/s.

I performed 3 benchmarking tests and have attached a comparison to the post. The dark and light blue bars are when my SSD was connected to the Intel SATA 2 port and the green bar is currently when my SSD is connected to the Marvell SATA 3 port. I am 100% positive that I am using a 6gb SATA cable.

I have also attached an additional screenshot showing that AHCI is activated and SATA 6gb is connected. It also shows that my SSD firmware is the latest.

Trim is enabled.

Can someone please help me on how I can improve the performance of my SSD. It will be appreciated.

Thanks.

I performed another benchmark with the SSD connected to the Intel SATA 3 port.

As you can see in the screenshot AHCI is activated but the SATA 3 interface is not available. However the SATA 2 performance outperforms the SATA 3. Sequential Read is nearly 100MB/s faster and Write around 120MB/s faster than SATA 3.

This does not make any sense to me because from other benchmarking tests it is supposed to be the opposite way round.

Below I also added a comparison between the two. The dark blue bars are the Intel SATA 2 benchmark and light blue bars the Marvell SATA 3 benchmark.
