Can someone please tell me why Windows 7 wont let me install for a new NTFS partition? Good hard drive.

Basicallly what the title says, going to make this brief because already typed this once and was backspacing a word and it made me go to the previous page and lose everything.

So this computer I have posting about a lot lately is giving me even more fits and I am about to go bloody insane.

What I am trying to do: Install Windows 7 Pro x64 ISO I got from MSDN with a key

What is happening: The installer tells me it cant install to partitions that the INSTALLER created because "These partitions are of the GPT style.

What I've done:

Deleted the primary partitions, created new ones, then formatted them Result: Same problem
Removed disk and checked for errors with HDTune Result: Disk is flawless
Used the Virtual disk service on another PC and created two NTFS partitions. Result: Same problem
Tried a second time to format partitions with installer Result: Same problem... AGAIN

Anybody have any ideas? Should I just zero fill the drive and make it like brand new so any trace of a GPT table is gone? I dont even know how the GPT table is there in the first place unless EasyBCD did it a long time ago in another rig.

Note: Another issue i noticed is that the PC cannot boot Hirens Boot CD, I get something about No PXE Stack Not sure if it is a CPU issue or what

I had a similar issue when switching SSDs around between my laptop and main rig; windows wouldn't install a to my Crucial M4 even though it was clean. I believe it's caused by some tables not being whiped during a format, and I believe I fixed it by totally whipping the drive clean with DiskPart "total clean" function or whatever is more thorough than a normal format.

I have had this issue too and I can not exactly remember what I did , BUT! I formatted the drive and there is a option to change the style of the drive and there is a option that (reccomeded) and that worked for me.

sorry could not be a huge help but I hope it was a little bit more then you started with xD.

Going to hook it to my laptop and use Hiren's to zero fill it and see if that helps me any, will come back with results. This is just baffling cuz i have used hard drives like this all the time and it usually works but for some crazy reason it isnt. I kinda want to blame the custom bootoader that I made so I could dual boot, may still be traces of it and i am pretty sure it is GPT so that it works with Linux

Edit: Now I know why I have issues with Hiren's. Someone scratched the living crap out of the disk, literally a huge scratched area about the size of a quarter mad.gif Need to stop letting people borrow these disks!

I had a really hard time getting a program to successfully execute a zero fill without crashing, finally decided I was going to use KillDisk and that seemed to fix it! However I couldn't put Windows 7 on there because the installer did not play nice with the 6G SATA ports, Windows 8 installed without a fuss though.

Just waiting for my GPU to be returned from RMA, then I can ditch this crummy GT 240
