Haswell I7-4770K Overclock - NEED HELP!

Thread Starter
Hey guys!

I have that problem that when I try to Overclock with tthe new Intel I7-4770K I can't get a higher Overclock than 4.3 ghz?!?!

4.3 ghz works perfect under max load. No problems there at all, its not getting too hot and so on. But when i try 4.4> it bsods after a few minutes of Prime95, and the chip gets pretty hot, almost 80C.

My current overclock is:

100x43 - Voltage 1.275 - XMP Enabled - Strap 1.0
The core temps are avg:
Idle: 32C - 34C - 31C - 33C
Max Load: 71C - 73C - 71C - 72C

My specs is:
MB: Z87-G45 MSI Gaming Series
CPU: Intel I7-4770K Haswell 3.5 ghz (Overclock to 4.3!)
Cooler: Noctua NH-U12P Stock Cooler
RAM: 12GB - 2x4GB Corsair Vegeance LP sticks and 2x2GB Corsair Sticks
GPU: XFX Radeon HD 7970 3GB Black Edition
PSU: Corsair CX500 Watt
SSD: Samsung 120GB 840 Series
HDD: 1x WD 500GB and 1x Seagate 120GB
Case: Cooler Master 912 HAF Plus Medi Tower

Any suggestions?
(Maybe a little under detailed but the basics are there) tongue.gif

Is it a bad chip? Anything? HELP ME GUYS! biggrin.gif

The set-up I was playing with was a G45 + 4770K and getting it much above 4.2Ghz resulted in silly temps. The tip regarding UNCore helped a bit and should get you to 4.4Ghz I would have thought. HardOCP are hinting electromigration damage to two Haswells which they have been overclocking over the past two months, certainly food for thought. So maybe the rock solid 4.3Ghz you have actually pretty good.

You probably just need more voltage. A significant number of chips take 1.3V+ for 4.4 and higher, so not being able to run it at 1.275V isn't that unusual.

Yea if your getting BSOD just up the voltage. But remember, more voltage means more heat.

I was lucky and got one of the goods ones, stable at x48 @ 1.275v, but it's at 87c avg. But I want to go more, going to be deliding this week wink.gif
