Does anyone want to help me fix a VPP655 pump?

I got this for free in a trade because it was malfunctioning. I would love to fix it! It starts up, but almost seems to get "caught" on something and it stops spinning anywhere between 1 - 7 seconds after it is powered (NO, I am not running it dry lol I know someone is going to ask that). When I turn it by hand it almost feels like there is sand around the magnetic spinning part (sorry for the terminology, lack of knowledge) so I take off the magnetic spinning part and re-arrange the ball in the magnetic spinning part and then it turns smooth, but after a couple turns it seems to go off its "axis" and then you can feel the "sand" again. Hope that makes sense...........

Any suggestions, links, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I don't think I can RMA it because I got it from someone who got it from a trade so it goes back through quite a long chain.

as far as i know i dont think that little white ball is supposed to come off, having said that maybe you can try to get it spinning smooth by hand and then glue it in place. dont quote me ive only had my pump apart once and the little ball didnt move. good luck.

The white bearing should be attached to the shaft in the pump body.

The Impeller is contacting the pump wall which is a sign that the impeller bearing surface may be worn out. Nothing can fix that except a new impeller. The fact that it turns smoothly for a short time is a good sign though, if you can reattach the ceramic ball and impeller turns smoothly .... pump fixed.
It may be that a worn impeller bearing surface is what broke the white bearing free in the first place though. In that case, the pump is junk.

Don't know how you would reliably reattach the ball though.
