Upgrading CPU - Could Use Some Advice!

Thread Starter
Hi, I need some advice on what CPU would be a better choice.

My limit for the CPU is around $500, which is perfect because I live near a MC.

I wanted originally to get a 2011 Socket, naturally I thought of the 3930K.

I was told the intel Core i7-3820 is also a good CPU but I'm not sure how it compares.

If you can wait a little while, the 4930k, or whatever the Ivy Bridge E equivalent of the 3930k will be called, is only a little bit more, but all of the glorious PCIe 3.0 lanes, and many other awesome native chipset features, just like standard Sandy vs Ivy.

Ah I see, if that's the case I don't mind waiting!

No no $500 was for the CPU alone.

I was planning to go with X79 Asus Sabertooth!

As for case, Cosmos II is what I had in mind biggrin.gif

4820K will be cheaper then a 3820

Same thing with the 4930K vs the 3930K

Can you list your other parts?

I have not decided on all parts yet.

Just Case and Mobo.

It's definitely going to be ASUS Sabertooth. I supposed it would be worth the wait though. The 4930K will probably still be well priced in MC. Thanks!
