I hear that Vishera will be the last am3+ CPU, and I also hear that the 1150 socket haswell uses will be around for a good 2 generations, which is respectable.
I am in a pickle...with the new amd scoket, it will most likely support DDR4 memory, 1090fx chipset, all that, and of course, a newer beefier processor that can more directly compete with intel, for cheaper.
Right now, I have an AM3 board with a 965. I primarily game, with the rare render here and there. This means I would have to purchase a new board and CPU all together, so I can either go intel or AMD.
Should I wait it out to see what AMD has to offer with their new socket? Or should I buy an 8350 now (I cant upgrade all the time, this next one has got to last me 3-5 years). I don't want to buy something, and have the next line be exponentionally greater and faster so much that it puts everything else behind it to shame, and with a WHOLE new socket, the first time since the Phenom I's, it could potentionally do that.
So, given the new Consoles hardware, my upgrade needs, and the proposed future for both companies, should I wait? My motherboard is acting up...sound is all messed up (going to buy a soundcard) but my CPU is fine. Still does what I need...but again...would like to upgrade.
