Audio adapter causes game crash

Thread Starter
Hi all,
I have an audio adapter on my asrock extreme 4 that goes with realtek drivers (intel panther point pch realtek alc899). I've found out that realtek drivers cause game crashes, but if i disable the audio adapter i have no sound (and no crashes either). Actually some diagnostic tools detect another audio adapter on my nvidia gtx 770 (nvidia gk104 high defintion audio controller). I wonder if i can use it instead of the realtek one. Is that possible?
Sorry for my noob question and thanks for any help.

Adapter? Do you mean the onboard soundcard?

Update the drivers, download the newest ones from realtek homepage.
And for the love of god tell us all the parts of your system, like which speakers/headphones you are using and which mobo/cpu you have (extreme4 tells absolutely nothing as there are dozen of mobos with that name).

The biggest mistake you can do while asking for help with your PC is not to tell the specs of your PC.

EDIT: My crystal ball tells me you have Z77 Extreme4 mobo and 3570k.
Realtek HD drivers.

... and your crystal ball is absolutely right thumb.gif Realtek drivers are already updated. I guess the mobo comes with an onboard soundcard (win 7 identifies it as "high definition audio device"). I use external speakers (quite old) connected through a jack.
