My impressions on the Wii

Thread Starter
I got my Wii this afternoon around 3:00 or so (I was going to pick up my friends after school, they get out at 3:15 and I had just gotten out of the shower because I was home sick all day, really sick not just waiting for the Wii lol) and I've played it from about 3:00 until about 8:00 and I'm thoroughly impressed with it. I had a bunch of friends over and all of them really liked it except for one who was a die hard Xbox360 fan who was 'getting a 360 for Christmas' and had never even played one before I think it's just because he has terrible coordination and failed at every game we played.

The Wii interface and the fact that you point with the Wiimote to controll it is very slick and intuitive, I have gotten very used to the Xbox360 menu system and am familiar with the CMB (Cross Menu Bar) used in the PS3 because I have a PSP but I only found out what sort of menu the Wii had about 2 days ago, and it took me seconds to get it figured out, you point by actually pointing with your hand, A takes you forward/selects things and B (the trigger) takes you back, cake.

So far I've played Red Steel (very poor IMO but an interesting concept) Wii Sports (the perfect game to bundle with a Wii, tons of fun to play because each game is very simple at its core, but has a very deep level of complexity. For example, in the Tennis game, you can very easily do fore-hand and back-hand strokes and even play all 4 people on both sides on your first try (I did) but if you actually know something about tennis, you can very easily put spins on the ball and really get into the game, the same is true with all of the Wii Sports games) Zelda: Twilight Princess (I never was big on Zelda games, I played this for a few minutes and enjoyed it quite a bit, the controls are very simple with the Wiimote and Nunchuck, what more can I say) and the Metal Slug Anthology which I can't play until someone has some classic controllers in stock lol, I think you can play with the real Wii controls but that's kinda lame.

All in all, if you'd asked me last Friday I would have told you the Wii was lame and a stupid gimmick, over the course of last weekend I warmed up to it, bought one and got it today and am already hooked, do yourself a favor and try the Wii before you judge it.

I love my wii, I just beat zelda tonight, took me 39Hrs.

If you look at it this way. A game that last 39hrs is like what.. 4 shooters? which is 200$-250$..

So.. zelda is worth the 250$ for the wii for me

I had a PS3 and I sold it. Wii is so much better ATM. Theres absolutely no good games for PS3... I played the demoed, and hated them all!

Ninja_Boy is Remonster's younger brother. I am going to get a Wii next year along with a PS3 then I will truly be able to judge which console stands supreme. Thanks for your impressions.

Damn! You beat me by one minute! If those pictures would load faster!
And yes, Remonster is my brother, and we both love the Wii. Also Murlocke, well said, I stated the same thing in my thread, there is no point to get the PlayStation 3 now, unless you NEED a Blu-Ray Player so just relax until Q2'07, wait untill some good games come out, and a $50-100 price drop.
