quick question about antec 920 installation

Thread Starter
hi,

so i installed the antec 920 system in my new computer, but im not sure whether the fan/power connector from the pump should go into the CPU_FAN socket or SYS_FAN socket...which one is the correct/better one?

btw im using a Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H motherboard.

thanks a lot

P.S.: the SYS_FAN socket has a 3-pin connector (just like the one the pump has) while the CPU_FAN one has a 4-pin connector

Well if the pump is a 3-pin then you won't be able to connect it to the CPU_FAN socket anyway so I suggest you go ahead and plug it in the SYS_FAN socket. The only difference between the sockets are how your computer would detect it as. Say for example in speedfan or HWMonitor, you will see the RPM of the fans from the CPU or Case or whatever, the reason it's being identified as a CPU fan or a case fan is where it's plugged in to.

Hope this helps. Cheers.

do you have the same motherboard? the cpu_fan on my motherboard has a 4-pin connector while the connect from the pump is a 3-pin connector. should i just connect it like that and leave the 4th pin exposed?

I do not have the same motherboard, however yes it is ok to put a 3 pin into a 4 pin leaving it exposed.

so in conclusion, it would be better to switch it to the cpu_fan instead of the sys_fan socket? and why? still a bit unsure about what the difference between the two is

everything works fine so there were no problems whatsoever.

thanks
