Not at all, there's absolutely no such thing as overkill with memory frequency - as long as you aren't spending more than you would be. I'm not asking you to get over 8GB of memory, just saying for the same price you can get faster memory which will help you out in many different areas. Because memory is so cheap lately the differences in price between 1600MHz-2400MHz memory aren't all that different. Which is why you might as well get the faster memory because it is a great investment. There are many benefits to faster memory, it's more of a myth that its not useful. For instance it has been proven in games that faster memory helps increase minimum framerates. I noticed differences in load times of almost all my programs and applications with faster memory. Even daily tasks as simple as opening folders seemed to be snappier. Besides, it's the same price as a 1600MHz kit, so doing anything else wouldn't be very logical.

They do have versions with Wi-Fi built in it, but they are a lot more, and although I'm sure you can still afford them within budget. You might as well just get a Wi-Fi adapter instead considering how cheap they are.

Will I be okay with the heat using just the stock fans of the case? That was my main concern for choosing a single GPU over SLI.

I got a wifi adapter rather than buying a mobo with on onboard wifi partly because the ones with wifi were much more expensive and partly because I'm not too sure about how good the built in wifi adapter actually is. I got a TP-LINK adapter (I believe it's in my sig - I'm on mobile atm so not sure exactly which one) and it works great!

As far as worrying about heat inside the case from gpu's, you could get one with a blower style fan which will blow the hot air right out the back of your case! So no worries about the heat getting trapped inside.

edit:
Off topic but isn't it Pro > Evo? But Evo will have a much better price as compared to the Pro making it a better option?

edit2:
Haswell seems to be running pretty warm just like Ivy Bridge.. So yeah, an aftermarket cooler is a good option and allows overclocking in the future if you need more power..

Yes but to be brief, evo might be better priced

Will I be okay with the heat using just the stock fans of the case? That was my main concern for choosing a single GPU over SLI. I rather not use a Gigabyte mobo, I had some serious fan control issues with them before. I might go ASRock though.

I'd like to keep the K option in case I would like to overlock at some point in the future. I'll then invest in an aftermarket cooler.

There are some good ideas in this build that I will integrate for sure!
Thanks! I built a few computers with a friend before as a hobby. Pretty excited to start playing more games now!

if your keeping the build with the K you'd only require a aftermarket cooler really only if your overclocking right away, otherwise you could hold off, however getting a aftermarket cooler now will help with the longevity of your product by a probably a minuet amount, and you'd probably have another computer by the time you'd able to see the results.

Definitely Single over SLI, look at it this way, if you get say two 760's ti's now and sli it, you'd have to replace both for say one or two other cards. for the price of two cards you could probably get the higher end card while saving money for the next upgrade.

The ram isn't over kill but I woulda chose something else more non-vanity, it probably woulda shaved a few bucks, IMO I thought the intel extremes were a bit over priced for some run of the mill ram, its just the intel extreme branding that woo'd me but that buzz passed me a few weeks later lol, and I went with a 16gb kit for about the same price on sale.

Also, if I use the Windows 8 Enterprise trial, can I then use a Windows 8 key? I plan to buy Win8 in about a month once I get into University.

I have a maximum budget of 1,500$ with taxes (I live in Quebec, if that helps). I will be buying it this week, if everything goes well. Now, should I price match with NCIX or Memory Express? How about for Tax reasons? Or just the sheer fact that you like one company more than the other? This will influence my purchase.

I'm not really looking to overclock!

Thanks!

its pretty much what you asked for; without any peripherals (i didnt see you say you need it)
this pretty much has the 2nd best single gpu out there, psu should be enough, storage wise it is plenty.
also you said you were going to uni soon, does that mean you are in it right now? the source 210 isnt a huge case but you can go smaller if you wanted to. thumb.gif
