considering you're trying to push 60 frames a second at 1440p, you could get away with an i5-2500k!

You have the fastest processor available now, and a VERY good overclock for 24/7 use. If there was any certain circumstance where your current i7 wasn't enough, it's probably a big enough problem (with the game itself) that not even an i7-4960X would fix.

If you just like blowing money for the heck of it, that's fine, but unless these i7-4960X's come out and all OC to 5.2ghz easily, you'll just be doing a sidegrade, a very expensive one.

Even if the 4960x's were THAT much faster, you wouldn't see the difference for at least 2 years or so, probably more, to where your 3970x can no longer sustain 60fps+ and a 4960X can (which still isn't guaranteed...depends on your particular silicon lottery)

Yeah i'll wait to see how good they OC of course, that and the IMC, if i want to push 5ghz on my chip i basically need to throw 16go of ram away, uncool
