My first custom build in next 2 months.

I'm currently deployed right now, and I will build my first baby when I get home in two months from now. This is the build I want but I wanna know what suggestion or tips you guys have. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Yochewy/saved/25og

CPU
Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor

CPU Cooler
Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

Motherboard
ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard

Memory
Corsair Vengeance LP 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Storage
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Video Card
EVGA GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card

Case
Fractal Design Define R4 w/Window Black or White.?
Corsair 600T White Grahite Series?
NZXT Phantom White?

Power Supply
Corsair Professional 750W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply

Optical Drive
Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer

Operating System
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)

These are the stuff Im unsure about.
I haven't decided what case I should go for. I did a lot of research about this. I like 600t design the best but the loud front fans, and creaking on the side panel, is what stopping me from buying it. I also wonder how the h100i will work and fit with each case.

I'm also going to OC my CPU but don't want the temp to go higher 65C. Obviously, the only way for me to know exactly what clock speed would work, is to test it, I just wanna get some ideas.

feel free to suggest or throw ideas anything about the build. Thank you guys.

I honestly learned so much stuff in this forum more than anywhere. i just signed up today though I've been lurking around here for awhile. smile.gif

Budget will be 2000 max with Monitor, Kybd and mous included.

You might as well go for the 4770K, and I'd recommend stepping down to the GTX760 and buying two of them, microstutter is almost nonexistent nowadays, especially on Nvidia cards. For 25% more cost, you get great performance increases.

trust me, if you don't need tons of expansion slots, get an mATX setup. My sister has one with two 660's + a 3770K and she loves it. Again, go for a Haswell chip, maybe wait a month for Z87 to penetrate the mATX market more.

With a pair of cards, you may want an 850W PSU, just to get peak efficiency.

It's always nice to try fit even a 64GB caching or boot SSD into a build.

If you can get a Define R4, go for it, it's a solid case. For a mATX build, the R4 Mini is just as good.

Goold luck in your endeavors. I may lurk on this thread if you need any more help.

EDIT: The Gigabyte GA-Z87MX-D3H and the Asus Z87 Gryphon seem to be solid Z87 matx motherboards. The gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H is a good one for ATX. Ofc, prices and availability depend on where you live.

EDIT2: If your idea is to get as much value as possible, you can step down to a 4670K for that GTX770. You only really need a super-strong CPU for SLI or encoding/compute.

EDIT3: I would always choose the Silverstone SG09B for an mATX build, despite the price. You can get a very beefy air cooler in there or an H80i. Your CPU temp will always go above 65C, try to keep it below 75-80C if you're concerned. Above 90C is totally off-limits to everyone.

@SweetPotato

i forgot to put my budget in my post. I try to keep the cost lower than $1.9k - 2k. So far Im on the 1.4k range without the monitor, kybd and mouse,

I heard 4770k produce more heat than 3770k when overclocked, and the upgrade is not that significant.

How the 770 will fit in mini? I think i'll just go for ATX just to be safe.
The 770 will fit in the SG09, and most performance-oriented mATX cases.

Rumors should be take with a grain of salt. Both chips are relatively hot, and any slight increase in heat over the last generation will not impede overclocking or stability. Haswell brings multiple platform improvements over Ivy Bridge as well.

You should try for a cheap 1080p e-IPS display like the Asus VS239H-P, or a more professional PA248Q. I don't think you need to spend $500 on a WQHD IPS display. The alternative is a 120Hz monitor, but they cost about the same as the PA248Q, without the viewing angles or color reproduction. If you ONLY game on your machine, 120Hz is worth it, but if you even watch movies or read interwebz 10% of the time, you'll enjoy IPS.

Find a decent $50 laser mouse, corded is preferred. I'd solidly recommend the Rosewill RK-9000, with Black or Red switches. You'll need to read a guide on the different switch types, as you may find you prefer Blue or Brown instead.

EDIT: My sister and I both live in Hawaii, with sweltering heat and humidity. Her mATX case with two 660's and an OC'd 3770K does not overheat with the H80 she has in it. You may prefer a blower cooler like so: http://amzn.to/16WpY9f to exhaust heat from the case instead of blowing it back inside.

If I wait til september for the I8 to come out, you think I7 will drop down its price?

Im going for ATX, whats a good Z87 ATX just incase I go for I8?

I decided going for R4, and I should be fine with the rest of the parts right?

The psu is a good one but the pcpartpicker made a wrong price its actually around $130, but $110 after rebate of $20, now for that $90 budget you can get this Rosewill CAPSTONE-750 750W 80+gold

About the case its better you audition each one in a local store near you, to get a better impression, before buying.

How far are you willing to take this? You eventually get into OC scene, start exploring the limits, and might end up deliding the chip. Right there you gonna wish you had 4770k.
