It was a bet, I had to do it. And I won. rolleyes.gif

Most of the time you can get away with it and it works without issue, but it's not the way to do things properly. You should always uninstall drivers and shutdown before installing new hardware.

Thread Starter
Ok well here are the things I d shutdown and installed the card

Uninstalled the 680 drivers, restarted, installed the 780 drivers, shut down and installed the 780 card
tried all 3 PCI-E slots
Tried a different power rail from my PSU
tested my PSU's power outputs to make sure they are all outputting what they should
unplugged all add-in cards, optical drives and hard drives
updated the bios to the latest stable bios
updated the bios to the latest beta bios
reset all my bios settings to default

Also I tried the card into another computer I have here and it worked fine. I then returned the card to the store in which I brought it from and they tested it and found it to be working fine.

I'm really starting to think its my Gigabyte G1 Assassin 2 motherboard that has the problem.

Tomorrow I'm going to return my whole computer to the store I brought it from and see if they can fix it. Though this will cost me $80 but the good thing about this is if the motherboard is faulty they will return or replace it etc.

Any other ideas anyone else can think of before I do this?

Sadly I can't think of anything right now. Hopefully somebody else will think of something though.
Will edit post if something occurs to me.

Good luck with getting it solved!
