Opinions on my planned setup; Budget: ~1700$ - Page 2

As for your build, its seems fine, though you really have to balance cpu & gpu cost against your budget, if you want to get the most out of you build, since its most likely a gaming rig, get a quad-core & maximize the gpu by getting the most powerful single videocard, while balancing other parts cost with reputable parts.

As for motherboard, its fine if you feel that way about asrock, other model are msi z87-g43 , asus z87-a, and premium boards like gigabyte z87x ud3h, asus maximus vi hero, msi z87 gd-65, all this are xfire & sli capable. If your not planning to dual gpu you can always downgrade the mobo, to a single slot gpu which can give leverage to other component.

One thing though is that hdd "WD10JPVT" you choose is a notebook hdd 5400 rpm not sure why you choose it. get 7200 rpm with a single platter.

Thanks for your opinion, don't know why I put the 5400 rpm version on there, fixed that one. thumb.gif

msi has alot of issues with RMA and QC
Looks like a solid build.
These are the changes I recommend:

CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro H100i
Cut this down to an H80i, or even a Hyper 212 Evo.
Thanks to the lovely paste Intel uses on the lower end Ivy and Haswells, paying more for a stronger cooler won't do much unless you delid.
If you aren't OCing, then the H100i is major overkill.

Mainboard: MSI Z87 GD65 or Asus Maximus VI
I'd go with the Maximus. I've tried MSI and Gigabyte, and while I didn't have any real issues with the MSI board (the Gigabyte one had some serious vdroop issues) I've found ROG boards to be amazingly reliable.

GPU: MSI GTX760 OC Twin Frozr
Like others have said, I'd bump this up to a 780, or if that's too expensive, a 7970 (or 770 if you want to stick with Nvidia).

Thanks for the input =) I tweaked the whole build a little bit:

Case: Corsair Carbide Air 540
PSU: be quiet! Dark Power Pro 10 750W

CPU: Intel i7 4770K "Haswell"
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro H100i (guess I'm going to OC)

Mainboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro Series Red DDR3-2400, CL10 - 16GB Kit

GPU: MSI GTX770 Twin Frozr

SSD: Samsung 840 Pro series

HDD: Seagate ST1000DM003 1 TB
