What about the washed out gamma gone wild effect?
No gamma bleach effect with BENQ Blur Reduction V2.
Just only loss of brightness (normal), but the contrast ratio and gamma remains exactly the same as without strobing.
You can get a lot of brightness back by raising "Persistence" in the Blur Busters Strobe Utility.

Not all of them, but many 27" 120Hz+ panels were better manufactured than 24" 120Hz+ panels, to the point where that the two 27" panels I have here (27" ASUS VG278H and 27" BENQ XL2720Z V2) have less vertical gamma shift than my 24" TN panels (BENQ VG248QE and 24" BENQ XL2411T).

Also, apparently, the discontinued 27A950D had much better color quality than all ASUS/BENQ 27" TN panels, but the discontinued Samsungs had much more input lag than current ASUS/BENQ 120Hz+ monitors.

AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME!

The washed out, bleached out, lowered (perceived?) contrast IS distracting to me.

You're 100% correct about the Sammy. I had an older 120hz Asus as well as the 2420T(or TX). The colors on the Asus werent that good, the BenQ was hideous. In addition to the excellent colors of the Samsung, it had a BEAUTIFUL glossy (glass?) I can't tell u how much it helped everything just pop. Very immersive. But it definitely felt slow. The BenQ was much faster, but the Asus was the best when it came to input lag.

I'm content with the TE enough to wait for a high quality TN like the Swift 2...yeah, don't want nothing going to do with an $800 1440P!

For those thinking of the Z-series, be aware most Z-Series monitors shipping (as of March) are Version 1.

You want to make sure you want the Version 2 ones for the "better-than-LightBoost" experience when tweaked via Strobe Utility. It's possible to upgrade the firmware, but it's much simpler if you make sure if it has Version 2 firmware already installed.

The ones sold on BENQ's online store are now Version 2.
Just so you know!

Yup, pretty sure that link I posted is a V1. That means a lot of work or $60. That's $490 wo/ shipping. May as well order from their site.

FWIW, I have experience ordering w/ them and even an RMA. I can speak highly enough of how well everything was handled. I would like to see this panel @ $400 though. Are they seriously going to charge me $500 + $200 for the G-Sync addition = $700 when the Asus Swift will be a much higher quality TN AND 1440P? Bah!

I literally got the 2420TE a few months ago and there's already a better, upgraded version for the same exact price I paid on Amazon.

SMH.

$500? The XL2420Z is available for $399 off BENQ's site.

Granted, the XL2420TE is even cheaper.

Question: with the "new" BenQ LB are you able to utilize a brighter LB mode while still keeping blur as low as LB 10%, or even lower perhaps? I remember that being one of the issues with LB 10% vs. say 50%. But it was all also marginal across the different LB brightness levels compared to not having LB on at all (even vs. a 144hz panel). I usually keep LB on around 30% and adjust the remainder with in-game gamma. I honestly can't tell a difference in blur between 10% and 30%.

You have a lot of freedom, but there isn't much leeway on the brightness in blur reduction mode. Brightness is available in the monitor OSD but that's already set at 100%. Your mileage may vary on what you like.

BTW if you're an arcade emulator fan that plays 60 fps locked games, THIS monitor or a CRT is the ONLY way to go (unless you use the mame binary with built in black frame insertion with lightboost).

You need to be in Standard mode as certain presents have certain options on the OSD greyed out. Also make sure you're in your desktop and not running something in fullscreen.
