Trying to split audio through usb headset and HDMI (connected to samsung tv)

So my computer currently is connected to my monitor and TV(HDMI). I have it connected to it so my siblings can watch movies and videos while I play games. So I want to know if i can make windows media player sound go out through the HDMI while my games come out through my headset. I've tried messing around with the settings but i just can't do it. Is there something that i'm not doing? Or is it not possible to do.

Leave your headphones as the default audio device for the system. After that, go to Windows Media Player and click Tools -> Options... -> Devices Tab. Once there, click on Speakers and hit the Properties button. In the Sound Playback section, click the dropdown under "Select the Audio Device:" and select your HDMI output.
