OS install onto new SSD

Hello all,

I recently purchased a laptop (Lenovo T431s) and since it was not for me, I did not get an SSD... Well that was a mistake; The 500GB HDD is falling short when working with large files in programs like mail manager. So I purchased a 500Gb SSD and now need a little help installing the OS. My question is how do I get the OEM OS onto the new drive if there is no CD? Also there is currently a 24GB M-Sata SSD, should i physically remove this when installing the new SSD? I have to pull the back off anyways so figure if it would cause problems later I would just remove it. It currently is just used for cashe. Thanks for the information!

Thomas

Edit: Sorry I misclicked when selecting the forum to post this is, if possible needs to be moved to Laptops/Netbooks

If there's no optical drive, I think it's possible to install Windows with a USB stick. Also, having the mSATA SSD can't hurt either way, I guess

EDIT: If you didn't get a Windows install medium with the laptop, I'm pretty sure there's no way of "getting it back" short of cloning the HDD contents onto the SSD

Yes I saw that but I did not see anything that addressed my issues. Mainly if it was possible to install an OEM copy of WIN8 with no CD, as well as the Msata drive question. Thanks for the information though.
