Hello Guys,

I have a question. I own a Sapphire 7850 OC and i want to buy an another one for crossfire. Recently I found a very cheap Msi R7850 OC, I'm planning on getting it but I have no idea how would these two react to crossfire. The specs says that Sapphire has 920 MHz Core Clock and 5000 MHz Effective memory clock on the other hand MSI specs says that 900 MHz Core Clock and 4800 Mhz memory clock. What would you guys say about this crossfire? Waiting for your opinions smile.gif

If you are getting a good deal, I'd say get that card as brands do not matter in Cross fire or SLI. They must be the same VGA card model for SLI or from the same family of cards for Cross fire. Eg:

A GTX 580 could be SLI'd with any other make or brand of GTX A580. Same for AMD, where you could Cross fire the same series of cards. 7850 with any model or brand of 7850 or even a 7870

Good point. But my cocern was that i was hearing about sometimes one card downclocks itself to the another one would overclocking the second one solve it?

That would only happen if you were to crossfire an7850 with 7870, where 7870 being the more powerful card would downclock it to match the speed of 7850. This does not happen with Nvidia

OP overclocking both the HD 7850 cards to run at 1 ghz core and 5000 mhz memory should be easy. in fact its quite easy to run at 1 - 1.1 ghz core overclocks on HD 7850 and 5.4 - 5.6 Ghz memory. run both cards at same core and memory clocks. start testing with 950 mhz core on both cards and work your way upwards. once you have settled on a stable core overclock go for memory overclock.
